Situated 1.3km outside Sutherland is the Middelfontein Farm which offers three accommodation types:

Fontein is 80m from Fonteintjie cottage and 500m from Saffraan cottage.

Fontein is a beautiful two bedroom self catering house (2½ bathroom with bath & shower), lounge with select DSTV, Wifi, big farmhouse kitchen with indoor braai. Lovely karoo view with an outdoor braai on the covered porch (Separate toilet on the outside porch). Certain small dogs allowed with prior arrangement.

Fonteintjie is a lovely cottage with an open plan bedroom with separate kitchen & bathroom. Indoor & outdoor fireplace/braai with a double and two single beds, the en-suite Bathroom offers a shower.
 
The Living Room also provides selected DSTV viewing and Wifi. An Outside Braai (BBQ) on a sheltered stoep overlooking the river can make for perfect bird watching as well. The kitchen consists of all the necessary self-catering facilities, along with a Fridge, microwave and stove. Certain small dogs allowed with prior arrangement.
 
Walking trails from 3 to 15 km can be enjoyed where plants are numbered and listed.
 
 
Further into the Farm and very private is "Saffraan" a stone, open plan cottage
 
This is the outstanding stone cottage with no electricity for a stay like yester year. Very private and intimate, yet close to town - just 1.3 km outside Sutherland on the Middelfontein Farm.

This open plan cottage consists of a Double Bed, Large fireplace with a Gas cooker and Fridge. The Bathroom uses a Gas Geyser. All necessary self-catering utilities. A Sheltered Stoep with an outside Braai (BBQ) makes for those perfect sunsets. Certain small dogs allowed with prior arrangement.

Photographers: You are far away from streetlights and this spot makes it absolutely fabulous to practice astro-photography. On nights when there is no moon, the Milky Way and Megallan clouds looks as if you can touch it. Winter time when it is nice and cool, it is even better to get outstanding results.
